Other beaches in the surrounding area are Praia Senhora da Rocha, a very attractive little bay with tunnellink through the cliffs to Praia Nova. Left and right there are more splendid bays surrounded by stunning cliff formations, eg Cova Redonda, Praia da Albandeira, Praia da Marinha and Praia do Benagil, here you can make a kilometer long walk right on the cliffs in the unspoilt Portuguese nature. Not only these cliffs west of Armacao de Pera are part of a nature reserve, also the dunes east of Armacao are protected, well appreciated not only by tourists but also by several species of rare birds.

Portimao, the Algarve´s second biggest town but biggest port invites with the most famous beach of the Algarve, Praia da Rocha and also its kilometers of boulevard, harbour and thriving nightlife. Albufeira as well is known for its nightlife on the "strip", loads of bars and restaurants, touristic but never overcrowded. Carvoeiro and Silves, both at about 10 km) are also worth a visit. Carvoeiro has a great athmosphere with mediterrain flair, wandering around and visiting bars and restaurants is recommendable. Tennis, aerobic and fitness at Carvoeiro Tennis Club, golf at two excellent courses with David Leadbetter Academies just outside Carvoeiro. Salgados Golf is your nearest golf course, also called "Florida of the Algarve", adjoining the dunes of Praia dos Salgados, the continuation of Praia Armacao de Pera, and the birds nature reserve. Silves mainly is of historical interest with its castle as biggest attraction although in the mean time it has a city centre with a cosy athmosphere.
