Vila Nova Esperanca
(map) is located in Caramujeira, 4km east of Carvoeiro, 4km west of Porches and 7km west of Armacao de Pera.
Caramujeira is, although "touching" the sea for miles, still a very rural area, not suffering from mass tourism and "concrete booms" due to its protectic ecological status, merely existing of detached villa´s in rolling country side. The villa is only 1,5 kilometers away from Praia da Marinha, one of the most gorgous beaches along the whole of the coast line, surrounded by 30m high vertical rock formations, it already has won the "Golden Beach"-status several times and is included in top 10 of Portugal´s most beautiful beaches and even in the top100 of world´s most beautiful beaches.
Carvoeiro was a traditional fishermen´s village, fortunately having kept an authentical athmosphere over the years, making it to one of the most popular villa holiday destinations in the Algarve. The centre looks down onto a small beach bay enclosed by rockformations, Praia do Carvoeiro, slopes with still original building style properties enclose this pittoresque scenario, the little square right in front of the beach with numerous restaurants and bars around it is an absolute must to stroll around. Huge tourist complexes have never been allowed, herewith ensuring the lovely village character which makes Carvoeiro so popular amongst both residents as well as tourists, offering renowned ice creams almost at the beach square, furthermore a wide variety of Portuguese- and international cuisine restaurants.
Still an attraction is the little market, where you can buy fresh bread, meat and fish daily, the "bica" (traditional Portuguese expresso) cannot be left untried. At its two beaches, several traditional fishermen´s boats invite to go and see the caves - you see the most unbelievable caves and cliff formations, made by the "hands of nature", especially at low tide, from the sea you have a fantastic view over the impressive Algarve coast line with its golden sand beaches and magnificent rock formation raging upto 50m vertically out of the Atlantic Ocean. Especially famous in Carvoeiro is Algar Seco, paths are created within the rocks, even a restaurant is been enclosed by rock formations, a romantic "balcony" let you look down 90° into the ocean!! A few more superb little bay beaches closeby are Praia do Carvalho, Praia dos Caneiros, Praia do Pintadinho, Praia do Centianes, Praia do Benagil and Praia do Paraiso easily reached by car and every single one of these beaches suprises with yet another amazing impression of "Europe´s most beautiful coast". Tennis, aerobic and fitness at Carvoeiro Tennis Club, golf at two excellent courses with David Leadbetter Academies just outside Carvoeiro, Vale do Milho offers 9 holes 3-par course, ideal for those practising their short play.
Porches is famous for ist potteries and numerous good restaurants and Armacao de Pera is a coastal town with a pleasant boulevard and a fantastic 5 km long beach, one of the very few in the West-Algarve. Other beaches in the surrounding area are Praia Senhora da Rocha, a very attractive little bay with chappel on its cliffs and tunnellink through the cliffs to Praia Nova. Left and right there are more splendid bays surrounded by stunning cliff formations, eg Cova Redonda, Praia da Albandeira, the already mentioned Praia da Marinha and Praia do Benagil, here you can make kilometer long walks right on the cliffs in unspoilt nature. This coastal stretch from Praia Nova westwards is part of a protected nature reserve, you can walk/mountainbike/horse ride(stables nearby) for hours without hardly encountering any tarmic, traffic and people, you´ll encounter loads of olive-, fig-, pine- and St. Johnsbread-trees and other typical Meditterean flora and fauna. Not only these cliffs west of Armacao de Pera are part of a nature reserve, also the dunes east of Armacao are protected, well appreciated not only by tourists but also by several species of rare birds.
Distance to the International Airport of Faro is around 55 km, conveniently travelled in 35-40 minutes as 90% is double lane roads. To Portimao and Albufeira, the bigger towns in your villa area, it´s only a twenty minute drive. Portimao, the Algarve´s second biggest town but biggest port invites with the most famous beach of the Algarve, Praia da Rocha and also its kilometers of boulevard, harbour and thriving nightlife. Albufeira as well is known for its nightlife on the "strip", loads of bars and restaurants, touristic but never overcrowded. Silves is mainly of historical interest with its castle as biggest attraction although in the mean time it has a city centre with a cosy athmosphere.
